Online Care Worker Community Announces Winner of Christmas Competition

CareTribes, the digital platform for nurses, carers and care assistants has announced the winner of its Christmas competition. Full-time carer, Kerry Lunt received £1000 Argos vouchers to start the New Year with a bang.

Kerry, from Tyne and Wear has two children and three grandchildren. Her son has a variety of complex disabilities, and she acts as his full-time carer. Kerry beat off hundreds of applicants to win the grand prize, which intends to spoil her family with in January.

Care Tribes is an online community that connects those who work in the demanding care sector around the UK with one another, giving the opportunity to discuss issues, share experiences and offering support for an industry so vital to society.

David Beard Care Tribes Founder said, “Christmas is a truly magical time of year for everyone, especially families, yet many forget that there are hundreds of nurses and carers who are away from their loved ones on Christmas Day and New Year making sure others are looked after. This is such an admirable sacrifice, we wanted to reward someone in this special group of people by giving them something to celebrate the New Year in style.”

There are over 74,500 NHS and social care employees who will be working over the entire Christmas and New Year period, spending long hours away from the festivities at home. The Care Tribes competition has meant that Kerry will be able to extend her celebrations into January.
The Facebook page was the setting for the Super Christmas Giveaway, which was open to all users who liked and followed the group, numbering at over 14,000. Kerry Lunt was announced as the winner on 20 December at 11am.
